NEK DRAG RACE #1 January 16, 2010 - A RESOUNDING SUCCESS!
Fun was had by all as over 270 people came through our gates to watch, volunteer or race! There were 90 regular entries broken out over 17 classes, and 11 racers in our 120 and 120 MOD (Modified) classes.
The weather held, the ice held, the food was hot and plentiful and the day pulled off with almost no hitches (save for an issue with the lights!).
We even had a special appearance by the Lombard-McMahon Racing team with their "laydown" sled, which requires a much larger racing track on full ice. They needed to perform some "fine tuning" to the engine and computer program and needed to test their speed and reaction within a 60 ft space, so we were happy to let them make a few passes and put on a show! The have promised to come back for future races, so please plan to stop by their trailer and ask them about it! Kurt Lombard and Jim McMahon have been racing partners for almost 20 yrs, and this sled was the 2009 Canadian World Series Champion! It has a 1050cc engine, 285 hp and has a full chrome Moly Tube chassis.
